Why one setting covers many chips
Many pixel chips speak the same protocol. TM1809, for example, is compatible with WS2811, WS2812, WS2815 and many others. That's why the output settings of LEC3 and SPI Matrix are organised as IC families rather than one entry per part number.
Open the (i) icon at the Outputs header in the web configuration, find your exact chip in the right column and use the Type from the left column for each of Output 1 to 4. Press Save Outputs so the setting stays in the controller's memory. Step by step: how to set the LED chip type.

Supported Chips
Common chips that work out of the box
Supported chips include TM1809, TM1803, SK6812, WS2811, WS2812, WS2812B, APA102, APA102-65536, APA104, LPD8806, SM16716, SM16726 and many more. RGBW strips use 4 colour channels per pixel, up to 768 RGBW pixels per output and 3072 on all 4 outputs.

LED chip questions
Very likely. Many chips are compatible with a common family, for example TM1809 with WS2811, WS2812 and WS2815. Check the Supported ICs PDF or contact us with the chip type. More in Set the LED Chip (IC) Type on LEC3.
Yes. Each of the 4 outputs has its own chip type setting, so different strips can run on different outputs of the same LEC3 or SPI Matrix.
Yes. A pixel can use 3 or 4 colour channels. With RGBW, each output drives up to 768 pixels, 3072 on all 4 outputs.
In the web configuration, in the Output Type setting of each output. Press Save Outputs afterwards, otherwise the setting is lost after a restart. More in Set the LED Chip (IC) Type on LEC3.
